Hello and welcome!
I'm very excited to be participating in the Wharf to Wharf for the second time -- on Team CASA! I am a proud member of our CASA staff team, Captain Cook's Crew, led by our Program Manager Jimmy Cook. Those of you who are involved in CASA know how beneficial and wonderful of a program it is, and if you'd like more information, read on!
"CASA is a child's voice in dependency court, providing advocacy, stability, and hope to children who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned."
As many as 600 local children each year live in the Santa Cruz County dependency system because of parental abuse or neglect. Each day they face uncertainty and trauma, their lives a sea of ever-changing professionals who –although well-meaning- are nonetheless strangers; police, social workers, foster parents, therapists, judges, lawyers and many others.
This is where CASA steps in. For more than 200 of these children each year, one person is consistently there; a caring person whose focus is solely on them, a person whose reassuring presence does not change; the child's volunteer CASA Advocate.
I'm running my toosh off in the Wharf to Wharf this year as a way to bring donations to this wonderful organization that I volunteer and now work for. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and GO TEAM CASA!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to share this with anyone who you think might want to donate too! :)
